Max Smith

Maxwell J. Smith, PhD, MSc, is an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Health Ethics, Law, & Policy (HELP) Lab in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University (London, Ontario, Canada). Dr. Smith is a member of WHO’s Ethics & COVID-19 Working Group, Public Health Agency of Canada’s Public Health Ethics Consultative Group, and Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Bioethics Table. He completed a BA in philosophy and a PhD in public health sciences and bioethics at the University of Toronto, an MSc in bioethics from Union Graduate College & the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at McGill University. His research is in the area of public health ethics, with a specific focus on infectious disease ethics.
