Halima Muhammad

Event Based Surveillance Analyst, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)

Halima is a graduate of Biological Science (Microbiology) and has a Masters Degree in Public Health. She is currently an Event Based Surveillance Analyst at the EBS Unit of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Her work focuses mainly on signal search, verification, analysis and reporting on EIOS, Tatafo and other digital surveillance platforms. She is also part of the team that manages the Connect Centre at NCDC.

Wilbrod Mwanje

Senior epidemiologist, Uganda Ministry of Health

Dr. Wilbrod Mwanje is a senior epidemiologist with the Baylor College of Medicine stationed at the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC) of the Uganda Ministry of Health. He is a graduate of the Uganda MPH program from Makerere University Kampala. He is a graduate of the German Biosecurity program- Global Partnership Initiated Academia for Controlling Health Threats (GIBACHT). He trained in Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases in Outbreak settings (EPICID)-Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (Hamburg, Germany). He has over twelve years’ work experience implementing field epidemiology and coordinating public health surveillance, Immunizations and Vaccine Preventable Diseases surveillance programs at the national level in Uganda. He is currently the senior epidemiologist at the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre of the Uganda Ministry of Health where he heads the Event Based Surveillance Unit. He is among the EBS Subject Matter Experts that validated the Africa CDC EBS training guidelines for health workers in AU member states.

Lucía Hernández García

Consultant, World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO EURO)

Studied in Medicine and specialized in Preventive Medicine and Public Health in Spain. Joined WHO Regional Office for Europe in October 2020 to work for the Health Emergency Information and Risk Assessment team as a consultant, mostly focused on COVID-19 media monitoring activities.
