WHO Director General Dr Tedros launched the new WHO global action plan on physical activity 2018-2030, More active people for a healthier world, in Lisbon at Football City, home of the Portuguese National Football Association, at a gala event involving the Prime Minister of Portugal António Costa, Adalberto Campos Fernandes, Minister of Health, Fernando Araújo, Health Secretary of State, and Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, Minister of Education.
WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is today joining Prime Minister António Costa of Portugal to launch the new "WHO Global action plan on physical activity and health 2018-2030: More active people for a healthier world."

Walk, cycle, skip and swim: being physically active promotes health and protects people from cancers, diabetes, heart disease and obesity – key forms of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The Let’s be active campaign is promoting the advice of the WHO Global action plan on physical activity, which was endorsed at the World Health Assembly in 2018.
