Partnerships

HTAP avoids duplication, reduces the burden on technology holders and recipients and maximizes overall impact through sustainable and strategic partnerships. Key partners and stakeholders include:

  • Technology holders: Provide IP and manufacturing know-how, e.g. research institutions, private companies and public-sector innovators.
  • Technology seekers: Receive structured technology transfer and production support through multi-partner implementation support plans.
  • Medicines Patent Pool (MPP): Facilitates licensing agreements and sublicensing opportunities for LMIC manufacturers, as HTAP’s key implementing partner.
  • Regulatory agencies: Support compliance with global quality standards and fast-track regulatory approvals.

The programme recognises that success will need tailored incentives to attract diverse technology holders. Effective technology transfer must be demand-driven, with clear market and production strategies tailored to regional needs and capacities and facilitated through partnerships.

HTAP has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with two research institutes, the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in India, and the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. These MoUs are designed to facilitate the identification and transfer of selected health technologies to HTAP, then to manufacturing partners.
