WHO’s Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases has established a multidisciplinary snakebite envenoming roster of experts. As members, experts are expected to provide advice and support on issues relevant to the implementation of World Health Assembly Resolution (WHA)71.51 and the 2019 global ‘Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Snakebite Envenoming’.
This Strategy aims to reduce the numbers of deaths and cases of disability due to snakebite envenoming by 50% by 2030, in alignment with WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 that aspires to ‘ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages’.
Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years’ professional and demonstrated experience that includes:
- working in field that has had a direct impact on snakebite envenoming, particularly at international or national level, in the context of influencing policy or practice, managing large programmes or projects; and,
- a well-established reputation as a leader in their respective fields.
Individuals interested in applying to participate in this group will find details on the Application Process here. This is an open call and applications can be submitted at any time.
WHO will publish the membership of the advisory group once we receive responses and assess conflicts of interest.
