Public discussion survey: AMR Multi-stakeholder Partnership Platform

23 August 2021

Creating a movement for change through engaging
 multiple actors and voices

The Tripartite organizations (FAO, OIE, WHO) are conducting a public discussion survey on the development of the AMR Multi-stakeholder Partnership Platform and would be grateful for your valuable feedback on its proposed objectives, key elements and ways of working. Please take a moment to share your opinion with us by filling in a short survey.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an ever-increasing global threat causing an estimated
700 000 human deaths globally per year. Most countries have developed multi-sectoral AMR National Action Plans (NAPs) targeting the One Health approach, and many have national legislation to control antimicrobial use. However, implementation at scale is a significant challenge, compounded by a lack of awareness, resources, capacity, and incentives to change behaviours. Collaboration between sectors is required to ensure that strategies address the need and constraints of each sector to bring sustainable change.

The UN Inter-agency Coordination Group on antimicrobial resistance (IACG) recommended establishing a constituency-based partnership platform to develop and implement a shared global vision, narrative, and targets. The aim is to bring multiple stakeholders together across the human, animal, plant, and environment interface, assisting in preserving antimicrobials as lifesaving medicines for humans, animals, and plants.

Your remarks will help us to shape the foundations of the AMR Multi-stakeholder Partnership Platform and enable us to develop formal Terms of Reference. We hope the Platform will be the starting point for global, collective action against AMR.

The survey will close on 18 September 2021. Please follow the link below to get started. You can also find attached the Word versions (available in English, French and Spanish) of the questionnaire to help you prepare your input. Please send your comments through the survey link in order to enable accurate and timely collation and analysis.

The Tripartite organizations will consider all comments received but will not respond to individual comments directly. The results of this public discussion will be aggregated and published in Q4 2021 on our websites. We may publish views. However, we will not attribute individual names to any of those views.

Please contact AMR-Platform@fao.org for any questions or clarifications.

Thank you in advance for participating!
