Historic
In 1963, following the agreement and endorsement of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the first session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (was convened. Member countries, and observers representing food sectors, food law and analysis, were brought together to develop the Codex Alimentarius, an international food code aimed at protecting the health of consumers and facilitating fair practices in food trade.
