Methodology for monitoring progress towards the global nutrition targets for 2025: technical report

Overview

As part of the WHO and UNICEF collaboration in global monitoring and reporting on nutrition indicators, the joint WHO-UNICEF Technical Expert Advisory Group on Nutrition Monitoring (TEAM) was established in 2015 to advise on improving nutrition monitoring at all levels. The goal is for the group of experts to share their experiences in developing harmonized standards, tools and approaches.

In June 2017, the TEAM provided their recommendations to WHO and UNICEF on technical issues concerning the monitoring country progress towards the six nutrition targets for 2025 endorsed by Member States during the World Health Assembly in 2012. This report summarizes the main issues presented to the TEAM, the evolution in defining tracking approaches and rules, and conclusions.
