Contingency fund for emergencies: 2022 annual report

Enabling quick action to save lives

Overview

The Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE) provides WHO with rapid and flexible resources to respond to disease outbreaks and other health emergencies. The annual report provides an overview of the use and impact of the Fund over the previous year.

In 2022, WHO and other humanitarian actors responded to an unprecedented number of complex crises, natural disasters and disease outbreaks, along with the continued impact of COVID-19. In total, nearly US$ 88 million was released from the Fund for some 35 emergencies in 40 countries and territories, and one global response.
