Terms of Reference for the Technical Advisory Group on COVID-19 Vaccine Composition

Overview

In September 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) established the Technical Advisory Group on COVID-19 Vaccine Composition (TAG-CO-VAC) to assess the public health implications of emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants on the performance of COVID-19 vaccines. The WHO TAG-CO-VAC evaluates the genetic and antigenic characteristics of circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants, immunity induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination, and the performance of authorised COVID-19 vaccines. Based on these assessments, the TAG-CO-VAC articulates advice to WHO, regulatory authorities and vaccine manufacturers on the implications for COVID-19 vaccine antigen composition.
