WHO Global Infection Prevention and Control Network meeting, 30 October 2024

Overview

The WHO Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Hub plays a key role in coordinating the Global IPC Network (GIPCN), which connects IPC organizations and WHO collaborating centers worldwide. The primary goal of this coordination is to strengthen national and international collaborations, supporting efforts to enhance IPC systems, improve outbreak preparedness and response, and build capacity for surveillance.

The focus of this meeting was to give GIPCN members and WHO IPC teams the opportunity to present updates and discuss proposed themes for World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) 2025.

Objectives of the meeting: 

• To share updates between IPC teams and GIPCN members;
• To gather substantial input from GIPCN members for the decision of the WHHD 2025; and,
• To continue the reflection and discussion on AI application to IPC.
