Global Coordination and Partnership on AMR
The Department of Global Coordination and Partnership on Antimicrobial Resistance leads and coordinates the global One Health multisectoral response to antimicrobial resistance and contributes towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Governance & Strategic Initiatives (GSI) Unit
The Governance & Strategic Initiatives unit provides strategic leadership to the AMR governance structures, coordinates engagement with political stakeholders, initiates and incubates strategic priorities requiring intense political support. It has two functional areas of work:
- Governance and political engagement: involves managing the Global Leaders Group , linking to other AMR governance structures, operations and spearheading high-level political advocacy activities for AMR across sectors.
- Strategic AMR initiatives and incubation: initiates and incubates AMR transformative priorities requiring intense political support during the inception and initial phases of the implementation across sectors. The current initiatives include:
a. coordinating the development of integrated surveillance of AMR/AMU through the work of the Quadripartite Technical Group on integrated surveillance;
b. coordinating the development of investment cases for AMR response at all levels and across sectors through the work of the Quadripartite Technical Group on the economics of AMR;
c. coordinating the network of the regulators across sectors to share and implement the regulatory measures to address AMR.
