Introduction of seasonal influenza vaccine
Through the WHO-UNICEF Joint Reporting Form on Immunization, countries report to WHO when they began introducing seasonal influenza vaccination. The data are publicly accessible and downloadable.
Influenza vaccines policy data
The WHO-UNICEF electronic Joint Reporting Form on immunization (JRF) collects countries’ annual immunization data which helps identify trends and gaps at the country, regional, and global level. Country level influenza vaccination policy and vaccine availability data collected annually through the JRF are used to inform implementation of the Global Influenza Strategy. These data also help to identify and map strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for countries to enhance their pandemic influenza readiness, including through an assessment of ten years of global progress in influenza preparedness and response. Country data is updated and available as received.
Influenza vaccination coverage
Countries annually report their administrative influenza coverage data through the WHO-UNICEF Joint Reporting Form on Immunization. The data are publicly accessible and downloadable.
Tools for assessing vaccination acceptance and demand
WHO has developed a package of quantitative and qualitative tools that can be used to assess behavioral and social drivers of influenza vaccination. If you are interested in using these tools, please email influenzavaccination@who.int
Tool for estimating comorbidities
This tool can help countries that vaccinate people with chronic conditions against seasonal influenza to estimate the number of vaccines needed and to determine the coverage rate for this group.
Tool for estimating the denominator of pregnant women
WHO recommends annual seasonal influenza vaccination for pregnant women. To address challenges in estimating the size of this target population, PAHO has developed an excel based calculator. This resource can be used by countries throughout the world to estimate the number of seasonal influenza vaccines that may be needed for the upcoming campaign and to determine the denominator that can be used when assessing influenza vaccination coverage for pregnant women. For any questions on the tool, please contact influenzavaccination@who.int
