The website of National Institute of Public Health is a member of the WHO-led project Vaccine Safety Net (VSN).

The website of the National Institute of Public Health enables its users an access to credible and up to date public health related information. It focuses on the following public health areas, namely lifestyle, environment, communicable and non-communicable diseases and conditions, health care system, waiting times, healthcare informatics and posts of the WHO country office in Slovenia. Besides, the website provides its users with comprehensive information in the field of communicable diseases, focusing on the general as well professional public. The information on the website is provided in the form of pages and articles supported by infographics, videos, posters, Q&A sections, as well other forms of providing professional and scientific information.

National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) is an institute, whose main aim is to study, protect and improve the level of health of Slovenian population with the help of preventive measures.

Core activities of NIJZ, which are financed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia, include the following: ensuring health and health protection data; monitoring and evaluating population health; recognizing health risks and developing measures for their management; health promotion and development of expert bases for the adoption of health-friendly policies; programmes and measures for disease prevention; monitoring and evaluating healthcare system; developing public health professionals, and research in public health.

NIJZ also implements health services, financed by the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, which include the following: management and partial implementation of national screening programme for early detection of colorectal cancer (Programme Svit), coordination and implementation of primary level prevention programmes, implementation of health services, which relate to ensuring continuous vaccine and immunoglobulins supply in the Republic of Slovenia, and some other tasks of preventive healthcare on tertiary level.

Aside of the central role in the public health service in Slovenia and implementation of tertiary activities in this field, NIJZ also actively cooperates in international projects, which cover various fields of health and general public health problems.
