Description of the website

The website of National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) is a member of the WHO-led project Vaccine Safety Net (VSN).

All communicable diseases information and vaccine safety information on www.nicd.ac.za is evidence-based and reviewed by experts, including pathologists, scientists, epidemiologists, medical technologists and technicians, and surveillance officers. The information on these pages are reviewed and updated frequently by a multi-disciplinary committee that has been established to ensure that web governance policies remain current, communicated and enforced.

Vaccine safety information is packaged in various ways, including peer-reviewed publications, fact sheets, blog articles, Q&A’s, infographics, posters and videos. The remaining website content is presented in surveillance reports, technical resources and guidelines for healthcare workers, health alerts and statements, and podcasts.
