WHO Academy has launched a course on Behavioural Counselling.   You can enrol for this free online course aimed at health care providers, who are uniquely placed and trusted by patients to provide information and support health.

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a leading cause of death and ill health around the world. Tobacco and alcohol use, unhealthy diets and lack of physical activity are key risk factors for NCDs that can be addressed through individual behavioural counselling.

This self-paced learning course is for health care providers, anywhere in the world, who would like to improve their knowledge and skills, in order to confidently counsel and support their patients to stop using tobacco and cease harmful use of alcohol, eat a healthy diet and be more physically active to improve their physical and mental health.

Over 9 modules, the course builds knowledge on the four NCD risk factors and skills to empower health care providers to tackle difficult conversations and support their patients to reduce their risk of developing an NCD, or help them to manage an existing condition. The interactive modules provide opportunities to practice counselling skills and help build confidence in delivering a brief intervention that is known to be cost-effective for NCD prevention and health promotion.

Each module is about 45 minutes long and culminates in an Award of Completion.
