Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS) play a vital role in collecting healthcare data directly from facilities and communities. RHIS gather information from a range of sources, including individual health records, service delivery records and resource management records. The “Implementation guide to the RHIS toolkit” aims to assist countries to effectively implement the WHO Toolkit for Routine Health Information Systems data and strengthen national health information systems.
The toolkit provides step-by-step guidance to help ministries of health, collaborating partners and WHO country offices prepare, implement and evaluate activities to continuously improve RHIS. These steps include conducting a situation and gap analysis, developing an implementation and resource mobilization plan, and implementing, monitoring and evaluating key activities and progress. By following these steps, countries can enhance data collection processes, ensure data quality and support better health service delivery.
