Access to health products for COVID-19
WHO works to ensure that policies and standards are in place to improve access to a broad range of health products for COVID-19 including medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and in vitro diagnostics. In addition, WHO works to ensure that health products such as assistive technology, remain available during pandemic situations. WHO produces guidance on standards to facilitate the development, production, validation and assessment of health products. WHO also supports the selection of COVID-19 health products for procurement through development of technical specifications and priority essential lists.
Our department supports the work of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator to enhance the development, manufacture, procurement and distribution of COVID-19 treatments for populations in low- and middle-income countries. We also lead the development of approaches for allocation of supplies, a key area of work of ACT-A.
