Nomination of the Regional Director 2023

The Director-General informs each Member at least six months before the opening session of the Regional Committee at which a person is due to be nominated as Regional Director that he/she will receive proposals for the names of candidates.

Any Member of the Region may propose one or more persons for the post of Regional Director. The Regional Director is nominated by secret ballot at a private meeting of the Regional Committee and later appointed at a private meeting of the Executive Board, also by secret ballot. 

The Regional Director is appointed for five years and is eligible for reappointment once only.
