Economics
National governments require economic data on the burden of vaccine preventable diseases, delivery costs of immunization programmes or new vaccine introduction, and the cost effectiveness of vaccines, to inform the allocation of limited resources and prioritization of interventions in the health sector.
WHO supports decision making and implementation efforts in countries, by developing normative guidance and tools to help assess the economic burden of disease and estimate the impact of vaccines in countries, particularly in low resource settings.
The team supports the COVID-19 costing and financing coordination group as part of the Funding & Demand workstream of the COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership and coordinate related country support. We also support the costing of the Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030), an ambitious and overarching global vision and strategy to maximize the lifesaving impact of vaccines for the decade 2021-2030.
